Hunter Memorial Park – Douglasville, Ga

on a family vacation in the Atlanta area so I decided to check on a few railroads that I needed more information on. The railroad in Hunters Park is unfortunately in the defunct category. Most of the track is still in place and the train is still there. About a quarter of the track is ripped up leaving two large sections of usable track. What is left is in good shape. From some research, it seems like there was an issue with the train being rebuilt and placed in service. Wonder if the city just gave up?

The locomotive and cars were built by National Amusement Device and is a very rare type of train. The picture of the train was found on the Internet and is not my picture.

It is a great park and an excellent setting for a train ride. Pictures were taken on Dec 26, 2015.
